Dietikon, station area
The centre of this town in the heart of the Limmat Valley is to be revitalised and further developed as a hub for public transport – the station will not just be an interchange point but also a destination. The station building in the southern area will therefore be comprehensively modernised and extended. Together with a better designed station square free from through traffic, the quality of the station as a place to spend time will be improved and access to the platforms will become easier. Small traders, retail and gastronomy will liven up the area and make it an inviting place to spend time. In the northern area, a lively extension of the centre will provide attractive living space with semi-private internal courtyards, roof terraces, loggias and facilities for the public on the ground floor. But making more of the centre does not mean greater density: connected open spaces, significant greening and paved surfaces will also create a high-quality urban landscape.
