SBB Real Estate – an integral part of the integrated railway
SBB Real Estate, with its investment and operating properties, is an important part of the integrated railway, which brings together passenger services, infrastructure, real estate and freight services. Our aim is to make stations attractive for customers, to further develop the station environment and access to rail and to maintain SBB operational facilities efficiently. SBB aims to be climate-neutral by 2030. SBB Real Estate is therefore committed to combating climate change, saving energy, building sustainably and promoting the circular economy.
Management Board
Beatrice Bichsel has been Head of SBB Real Estate and a member of the Management Board since September 2023. She is a lawyer with an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen and has been working at SBB Real Estate since 2011 – most recently as Head of Facility Management. Before coming to SBB, she worked as a lawyer at Immoveris AG and Häusermann + Partner.
Alexis Leuthold has been head of Property Management and a member of the SBB Real Estate Management Board since September 2018. He holds a PhD in Law and an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen and has worked at SBB Real Estate and Law and Compliance in various roles since 2006. Most recently, he was head of the Law, Compliance and Procurement unit at SBB Real Estate.
Andrea Huber has been head of Human Resources at SBB Real Estate since May 2019. After holding various positions at Novartis Consumer Health, Swatch Group and Inselspital Bern, she worked in HR at the SBB Passenger Division as a business partner from 2011. Andrea Huber is a qualified human resources manager and management coach. She also completed the MAS in General Management at SBB in 2019. She is a member of the board of trustees of the SBB Staff Fund.
Andreas Burkhardt has been head of Portfolio Management and a member of the SBB Real Estate Management Board since August 2019. He studied economics and political science at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). Andreas Burkhardt has been working at SBB Real Estate since 2010, most recently as head of Facility Management for the Central Switzerland region. He followed further training in real estate, earning a Master’s degree.
Armin Vonwil has been Head of Property Management since August 2024 and is a member of the SBB Real Estate Divisional Board. The ETH graduate has a Master of Architecture and has been working for SBB since 2010. He has been Head of Investment Properties Central Region at SBB Real Estate Development since 2017. Many projects were driven forward under his leadership, including Rösslimatt Lucerne and Volta Basel.
Bertrand Willi has led the Facility Management unit since 1 November 2023 and is a member of the Management Board. A graduate of the EHL Hospitality Business School, he has been involved with numerous hotel openings in Switzerland and abroad. He also worked on engagements at four editions of the Olympic Games between 2012 and 2018. Since 2021, he has headed the Facility Management Cleaning unit at SBB Real Estate.
Markus Frick has been Head of Finance at SBB Real Estate since October 2021. After obtaining a master’s degree in economics, he completed a CAS in Corporate Finance and worked in various positions at PwC, Sunrise and Swissgrid AG, most recently as Head of Finance at Swissgrid AG. Markus has been working at SBB since 2018, first as an external consultant for SBB Energy and subsequently in several roles at SBB Real Estate.
Salomé Mall has been Head of Development and a member of the executive management since August 2024. She was previously Head of Development for Central Property Development and responsible for the division Smart City at SBB Real Estate. Prior to that, she held leadership positions in the fields of mobility, urban development, and urban planning. Salomé is an experienced landscape and spatial planning engineer with a master’s degree in political science and further training in leadership.
