In addition to the platform extension, there are plans to build three new, wider platform underpasses with shops and services for passengers during the expansion of Lausanne station. Improvements will also be made to links with other public transport networks, particularly to the new and existing metro lines, with a connection under the station forecourt. The southern facade will be upgraded and substantially opened up to the district. Renovation work on the station building continues. In the future, SBB ticket counters will be open to the redesigned station forecourt, and the shops on the ground floor to the new pedestrian zone. The upper floors will also be renovated.
